Charles Heidsieck, Blanc de Blanc, Champagne brut, white 0.75 l

$69.90

Charles Heidsieck : Blanc de Blancs  0.75 l

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs is a wine with a unique texture that cannot be described in traditional oenological terms. A Champagne that elicits all the senses and particularly that of touch. Throughout this cuvée, two of the House’s areas of expertise come together: the production of great wines and the art of blending a large selection of chardonnay wines from different years and terroirs.

The Chardonnay from this Blanc de Blancs offers a bold attack and a balanced finish, surprising for its minerality. This salinity and elegant tautness make for a perfect pairing with seafood dishes or creamy cheeses that will contrast nicely with its vivacity.

FROM THE SEA: Carpaccio of scallops with citrus fruits, Oysters of St Vaast n°2, Arctic char with tarragon, Sashimi of sea bream with yuzu zest, Ceviche of mahi-mahi with pineapple and mango, Alaskan king crab legs with green curry mayonnaise

100% Chardonnay

Description

Charles Heidsieck : Blanc de Blancs  0.75 l

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs is a wine with a unique texture that cannot be described in traditional oenological terms. A Champagne that elicits all the senses and particularly that of touch.

Throughout this cuvée, two of the House’s areas of expertise come together: the production of great wines and the art of blending a large selection of Chardonnay wines from different years and terroirs. Cuvée Brut is an emblematic multi-vintage champagne, elaborated from a blend of more than 100 crus sourced from 3 grape varieties of Champagne.

Charles Heidsieck has created an aromatic and refined Blanc de Blancs in the house’s signature style

The Winery

For the great wines of Champagne, the house of Charles Heidsieck has set standards and nurtures a prestigious legacy in its two-thousand-year-old chalk cellars. As a pioneer, Charles Heidsieck distinguished itself in the late 1980s by showcasing the exceptional capacity for aromatic development of its multi-vintage Brut Champagne.

In 1987, it became the first Champagne house to indicate the year of “mise en cave” (cellaring), allowing the wine’s evolution over time to be tracked.

The Vineyard

The Champagne house Charles Heidsieck owns around 60 hectares of vineyards in the Marne and Aube regions. The estate is certified as a sustainable vineyard and holds the “Haute Valeur Environnementale” (High Environmental Value) certification.

In addition to using the fruit from its own vineyards, as is customary in Champagne, Charles Heidsieck meets its needs through long-term supply contracts with carefully selected growers and cooperatives in the region.

The Wine

The Blanc de Blancs is the house’s signature cuvée and highlights Charles Heidsieck’s expertise. In 1949, under the leadership of Charles-Marcel, the grandson of Charles Heidsieck, the house became a pioneer in Champagne by creating its first Blanc de Blancs.

In 2018, Charles Heidsieck decided to reintroduce the Blanc de Blancs to celebrate the art of crafting fine Champagne and masterful blending—two disciplines the house has perfected.

The Blend

The Blanc de Blancs by Charles Heidsieck, showcasing the nobility of Chardonnay, is made up of 25% reserve wines, which harmoniously balance the youthful character of the vintage wines. Its unique patina—one of the hallmarks of the house—comes from extended aging in the cool chalk cellars.

EYE: pale, crystalline gold with the typical glints of the Chardonnay varietal. NOSE: The aromas of mature Chardonnay can be recognized initially: white peach, candied citrus with notes of lime, honeysuckle, and fresh hazelnut, giving way to subtle hints of tangerine and lemon.

PALATE: freshness and tautness mark this typically Charles generosity: the attack is pure and forthright, not aggressive, with a surprising suavity for a Blanc de Blancs and emblematic of the maturation of wines in two thousand-year-old chalk cellars.*
