Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

Driven by a new ambition and freedom, Champagne Louis Roederer Collection Magnum is writing the next chapter of its story with the creation of Collection. As the House practices a sustainable viticulture that respects the living environment in order to fully express the qualities of the terroir, it also anticipates future seasons while adapting to the present.

As such, an uninhibited and bold approach was the only way Champagne Louis Roederer Collection Magnum could take its perpetual quest for excellence to the next level—and create a worthy successor to Brut Premier.

Each Collection blend of Louis Roederer Collection Magnum has its own identity which will gradually and fully reveal itself over time. The Collection number will allow champagne lovers, like collectors, to choose their champagne according to their preferred degree of youth or maturity.

THE VINTAGE of Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

2017, the base vintage for Collection 242, was a year of living dangerously! An exceptionally warm and dry winter and spring, but the latter brought severe frosts from 17 to 29 April, setting the sorry record for 12 nights of frost. Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

These were followed by a dull, wet and not particularly hot summer, which ended in an almost tropical (hot and humid) spell at the end of August. This sudden change led to a significant increase in grey rot on the ripening Pinot noir and Meunier grapes. The harvest was fast-paced and completed very quickly demanding precise and methodical selection work, of an unprecedented level even for Roederer. The harvest took place between August 31st and September 9th 2017. Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

TASTING NOTES on Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

On the nose: The Collection 242 blend is dominated by Chardonnay which was of exceptional quality in the 2017 vintage. The perfectly ripe Chardonnay grapes lend the wine its aromas of ripe, sweet fruit complemented by subtle oaky notes.

Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

On the palate: Rich and ripe with a luxurious texture that coats the palate, the signature of an outstanding Chardonnay. The Pinot noir and Meunier grapes from the Vallée de la Marne complete the wine’s broad, luscious, smooth and juicy character. The finish is energetic and fresh. Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

Description

Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

A new ambition, a desire for freedom, prompts us today to open a new chapter in the history of our house with Collection. Created from the Réserve Perpétuelle and the Réserve wines aged in wood, supplemented with the best wines of a harvest, the Cuvée Collection is deeply anchored in our roots and the foundation of our house in Reims. Freedom characterizes this wine composition, which arises from what nature entrusts to us Louis Roederer Collection Magnum.

This champagne proves to be a great multi-vintage blend for connoisseurs and a worthy representative of the Louis Roederer house. The collection’s number allows all wine lovers and collectors to select their wine according to their own preferences in terms of age and maturity Louis Roederer Collection Magnum.

Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

The number under the term Collection refers to the number of vintages of the House of Louis Roederer since its founding in 1776 and allows the vintage to be calculated that results in the base wine for this cuvée (e.g., the 2017 vintage is the basis for the first edition of Collections, the Collection 242).

Roederer, the traditional champagne house, has once again amazed everyone with their Collection 242! Here in a 1.5l magnum bottle incl. deluxe gift box

The name 242 denotes Roederer’s 242nd harvest and this champagne consists of 52% grapes from the 2016 vintage. These reserve wines mature in wooden barrels and come from the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 vintages (as also stated on the back label).
This combination makes the Brut with 8g dosage (residual sweetness) so unique!

Above all, the ageing in French oak barrels makes the champagne complex, delicately creamy and extremely elegant. It’s also appreciated by the world’s great wine critics. Decanter gives it 97 points and James Suckling 94 points, both are really high awards for a champagne in this price range. And rightly so, in our opinion.

Harmonious on the nose with yellow apples, peaches and delicate vanilla aromas. On the palate, the elegance can hardly be surpassed. Very fine pearls, almost silky, and every sip glides down the throat. Delicate tones of yeast are reminiscent of almonds and brioche. It’s still fresh with a salty texture and grapefruit comes to mind temptingly in the seductive finish. Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

All in all, a great experience! Suitable for any family celebration, but also perfect with oysters, seafood or mild cheese.

Louis Roederer Collection Magnum

From the outset, Brut Premier affirms its personality and seduction: the texture is full and generous and, in a fairly unexpected way, integrates characteristics of maturity associated with fruitier and more refreshing notes. The wine has a fresh, festive finesse In the mouth, the wine has structure, richness, and length. It is a full, complex wine that is both modern and powerful while remaining a great classic.” Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon.
