Description

Montaudon Brut Tradition

Round and full body Champagne characterised by its fruitiness with a majority of black grape varieties for a rich and elegant tasting

Montaudon is a traditional Champagne house from Reims. Well anchored in the local community the House was managed by the MONTAUDON family for four generations. In December 2010, the House MONTAUDON joined the portfolio of Alliance Champagne group; the story continues with the spirit of the founders and their quest for excellence.

The history of Champagne Montaudon began in 1891 when Auguste-Louis came to Epernay to exhibit his talents as cellar manager. His entrepreneur son, Auguste-Eugène, decided to create a Champagne House in Reims and thus the family tradition and passion for wine-making was born and would be handed down from generation to generation.Auguste-Eugene’s early commercial successes were recorder during the sparkling ‘roaring twenties’ period.

Later in 1936 Josephine Baker, mythical star of the Revue Nègre and the Folies Bergères, signed a contract with the House MONTAUDON for the supply of ‘First Class Champagne’ for her cabaret clubs in Paris. In the 1960s, Auguste-Eugène’s son, Philippe, acquired the vineyards up to 45 hectares.

His skill and charisma also allowed him to remain president of the Association of Champagne Brokers for a period of six years. Philippe was responsible for setting up a strict quality control system at the House MONTAUDON. His son, Luc, concentrated his efforts on the promotion of the MONTAUDON brand and the strengthening of the company’s commercial activities on both the traditional French market and, more specifically, the international one.

His worldwide travels have resulted in his gaining international recognition for the MONTAUDON range from connoisseurs as well as amateur wine enthusiasts. The red M has subsequently been a decisive factor for recognition and commercial development of the brand.

Today, thanks to the diversity and excellence of grapes supply coming from the 2400 hectares of vineyards of the Alliance Champagne group, the style and legacy of the MONTAUDON House are respected and transmitted in each of our bottles.
